"The song king (lieder recital) Franz Schubert left us with six stand-alone sacred arias that belong to the most beautiful that Schubert wrote for the domain of accompanied song for soloist. It stops every climax of stormy passion that contradicts the sacred character of the composition. The setting of the sacred text comes to the fore, and the music plays a more decorative role in spite of the memorable melody. From the first six arias, we have chosen the third....In Classical-Romantic self-indulgent beauty, the work was
composed in July 1815. This aria lay so clear on Schubert´s heart that eight years later he added wind instruments
to the score.
Ferdinand Jankowitsch sings the difficult but effective part as clear as a bell, technically superior, rhythmically concise".
