The main point that is being made here is that there is a direct PARALLEL between the Masonic lodges and their rituals, with those practiced in witchcraft!! There are so many offshoots of occultism, that to complain that some witches or pagans don't do this or that, is like comparing apples to oranges. Actually we all copy from something. Even if we didn't mean to, we still do. For instance. I'm sure the freemasons developed those things from different sources...esp members who added to the rituals.
