march 28th 2009 on a cloudy windy and eventually rainy day, Weyerhauser is using a helicopter to aerially spray pieces of land that are above Triangle Lake and above Fish Creek. There were no signs on the road that warned you of the pesticides about to be sprayed. They did not know I was filming the swamp creek pieces(above triangle lake), they did know that I was going to film the Fish creek pieces and I believe that is why they did NOT spray those fish creek acres. I also believe that if they knew that I was filming the swamp creek arcres they would not of followed through with the spray. It is illegal to spray when fog is present.... what do you think???Were the swamp creek acres foggy??

  • sounds like a lot of assuming going on here. First off you are a ways away from the area being treated so you dont know what the wind is like over there. And second, how do you know what the chemical is and and if it in fact "Dangerous". A lot of chemicals used in agriculture are less dangerous than coffee. There are also a hand full of products that are supposed to be sprayed when rain is expected in the near future to achieve soil penetration. You might want to get all your facts!

  • Thank you Luna!!

  • Spraying active and dangerous chemicals, along with surfactants, on rainy or foggy days ensures that the chemicals are easily inserted into the waterways for wider dispersal.

This is not allowed, but the weather being the weather, and the serious lack of funds to PAY people to watchdog the various companies who spray leads to videos like this. It is not about boredom. It is about outrage. It is about holding companies responsible for their actions. It is about accountability.

  • The dealo-i-o on the spraying in the rain and fog is not actually the pesticide or herbicide itself in many cases, it is the surfactants used WITH the active chemicals (the better to penetrate your membranes my dears) that seal the deal. The surfactants break the surface tension of the water molecules allowing the pesticide or herbicide to penetrate cell walls and do what it does.

    The moral of the story?

  • Well, when left to the people that know the conditions and laws this is what happens. They do what they want with no one there to enforce the rules. This spray should of been stopped, there is fog, and yes it does rain later. I have filmed several other sprays like this one of which has actually been investigated. So NO I'm not bored at all, more of us should stand up for our rights and stop criticizing those who DO in their own ways!!

  • great video!

check out "from silent spring to silent night" by Dr. Tyrone Hayes on Youtube...

A single particle released from TEN FEET, in a 1 to 3 mhp wind, has a trajectory of 26 MILES.

Find, read and share the book, "A Bitter Fog" Herbicides and Human Rights by Carol Van Strum

Google the name "Melyce Connolly" and read what you find there.

keep fighting the good fight. feel free to ask me any questions!

  • oh and you aren't supposed to spray if it looks like rain in the next 4-6 hours so ya bad spray.

Spray is a useful tool when used correctly.

  • Well you aren't actually on the block but ya, it doesn't look like "window"
