Here are a few clips of my early morning railfanning in Omaha Nebraska on 5-18-2010.

7 AM - Union Station Omaha, NE
BNSF #5631 - mixed freight heading down to Gibson Yards.
UP #4823 - crossing the river from Council Bluffs, IA with a mixed freight.
UP #7201 - slowing coming down summit hauling coal as it gets clearance to cross the river into CB.

UP North Yards Omaha, NE
UP #7180 - winding its way through the North Yards as it returns from the North Omaha Power Plant with a load of empty coal hoppers.
UP GP 38-2 #825, 827, 517 - working UP's North Yard as they classify cars destine for North Omaha industries.

Carter Lake, IA & North Omaha, NE
UP #517 - passing through Carter Lake hauling mixed freight bound for North Omaha.
UP #517 - after a quick reverse, 517 starts its morning switching in North Omaha.

All clips were recorded with a Canon Vixia HF200 and edited with Sony Vegas Pro 9.

  • Were is the best place to get a shot near the Rail museum (Durham museum) because i looked around and couldnt find any

  • Have you ever seen any of those blue coldtrain reefers go through there? there are only 75 of them, and Ive seen two roll through. theyre amazing!

  • I bet you had to hunt those spots :) Gread vid so thumbs up as with the other ones! One of these days I'll move my ass to the railway station here and take a few vids - everytime I went there was a train goin on every 60 seconds or so.. out of which 10% would be a freighter... out of which half would be diesel-electric, the rest plain electric locos.
