This is Robyn's attempt to descend the Lake Cave mine, narrated with an original poem. This was my first time EVER truly working with Windows Movie Maker to mix and match and cut and edit clips to sync with my own audio, and it didn't turn out THAT spectacular, but I'm glad it at least turned out. I'm more proud of the actual poem itself than of the recitation.
Original Text:
Ice 'neath my feet, darkness ahead
Can't help but feel a pang of dread
Can't know for sure what this cave hides
A hundred floors down, what resides?
Hoe in my rucksack (just in case),
Hammer equipped, determined face
Into the shadows; it's begun
I find the stairs, and down I run
Rocks strewn about, dirty and dull
Within them, something wonderful
Smash the hammer with all my might
Something shiny catches my sight
Polished and gleaming, it's a gem
So soon I'm finding one of them?
But I'm just one floor under earth
Think what the jewels deep down are worth!
But I must not get sidetracked now
Mining for riches - not my vow
My winter goal in this descent:
One rare creature is my intent
Ten tentacles, a colored crown
Don't know much, but I'll hunt it down
And so I start to search around
For some patch of unsteady ground
X marks the spot - toward it I lunge
I face my fears and take the plunge
Again, again, and down I go
Don't break to eat, dont take it slow
Another floor, almost lose count
One-double-oh's a huge amount
But on and on... I'm almost there!
Approaching the Jamasquid's lair
It's tricky enough to drop through
Now I must watch for setbacks, too
No, I'm too close; no room to chance
I must work harder to advance
I've got to dig my own pathway
But I just find dirt, soil, roots, clay...
Then my hoe strikes something concrete
My strength is ready to deplete
I'm ninety-nine floors below ground
If I collapsed, how'd I be found?
But I wipe my sweat, wont give in
For I can sense something within
A liquid glimmer, and fresh air
Just right below this humble stair
Deep breath, hammer away, rod out
A careful step, and there's no doubt,
No fear anymore, no mistake,
This is that legendary lake
Cast out as far's my line will reach
I sit, wait, sans motion, sans speech
One bobber sunk, one tiny noise
Would be the cause of all my joys
And yes, it sunk, while tension rose
I gasped and tried hard to oppose
That mighty struggle; what a bite!
The legends all were true, all right
This was the king of all the fish
And that's why it's all fishers' wish
That wish, for me, was coming true
Pull was all that was left to do
Don't know, nor care, how much time passed
But that smooth surface broke at last...
The King of fish had been dethroned
Now by the queen of fish was owned!

I've tried so many times, and cannot reach the bottom. Do you have any tips? Why would you need your hoe? Some kind of secret staircase?

@hanfan26
Yep, exactly! You have to take your chances with the X-shaped cracks for most of the trip, but if you manage to make it to the 90s or so that way, then you can start working toward the final goal with the hoe. Use it to look around for secret staircases that are guaranteed to bring you ONE level down (which is why you should mostly use cracks, to go many levels at a time, but play it safe and sure near the end when a crack is more likely to blow you back up instead of advance you).

how do you get to the lake? cave i can't figure it out

It's only accessible during the Winter season, when Lake Cave (in the separate preserve area accessed by the far left of the village) freezes over. Walk across the icy area where the water once was, and you'll see the cave entrance. Good luck!
