Autos cost a good $2k+ on some models, 1 mpg is never going to offset that, and those figures come simply from the taller or more gears. 8 speed manual w/ same gear ratios = same fuel economy if not better than 8 speed dsg or even CVT depending on how you drive it, and you can drive it however way you want it to, thats the beauty

Screw automatic transmission, the real enthusiasts stick with good old close ratio manual transmissions. Plus most sports manual transmissions are far more reliable than those other automatic junk which more than often fail after a certain period of trashing.

over here in malaysia, you aren't even issued a license unless you can drive manual. This is despite the fact that the automatic to manual ratio is roughly 60-40. This will change in May this year though, which is kinda sad.
