    1. Japan has strict building code that allows building to withstand significant earthquakes.

    2. This is Tokyo, there is no time to find "open space" outside.

    3. People get KILLED running outside during an earthquake by falling debris, signs, power lines/poles, cars losing control, etc.

    Conclusion: it's safer to stay inside and duck under a cover as instructed by their earthquake drills.

    just saying but i think less people die from falling debris then from a whole building crushing them down.

    and yes it is tokyo where there is only buildings, so id run to shorter buildings :)

  • @Acramaniac Most people die from falling debris outside during these things. Best thing to do is stay where you are, take cover, and wait for it to stop before carefully going outside to an open area.
