129 Mile bicycle ride Tour of the California Alps - a 200k July bike ride that goes over 5 Sierra mountain passes with 15,000' of climbing. Monitor 2x, Ebbetts 2x, then Carson. If you finish all 5 within their time cut off you get rewarded with ice cream, 5 pass pin, and right to sign the ride poster. The weather on the ride can quickly change from water soaking hot hot hot to rain and or freezing hail. All but the last mountain pass is closed to car traffic. apx 3000 riders. costs about $95

  • Go for it now. I think they have another sign up on 1/7. Enough time to train. If you wait for next year, you will be a year older. You could strap a flashlight to your bars and start 1-2 hours early. Go slow, take short breaks and most of all, enjoy the ride. Good Luck!

  • A friend tried to convince me to do this year- with a week's notice. Ha! Still thinking about next year though. Would you say that hard core spin classes are a decent platform for this? Obviously not equal, but..
