I would get a 9v battery to power the fan especially the big one that is going to shorten your run times.

Cooler will last longer and perform better. My motors never got overly warm either, but i know a lot of people need to use the fans on the motors with 2x 7 cells as they get a bit too warm

Seems a bit over the top to be honest, i thrash the balls of my e-savage true the motors get warmish but not as hot as the batteries do !!
