My Mom makes a special guest appearance with me on this video as we make one of my childhood favorites, daikon cakes. This is a steamed version and you find them at dim sum restaurants. But see how you can make it at home using my Mom's recipe. Check out the full recipe on my blog Cooking With the Single Guy at http://singleguychef.blogspot.com

  • How much water are we suppose to put in when boiling the daikon!? Lol

    Looks delicious! :)

  • @adorkabl3angel Hi, you don't boil the daikon. You shred the daikon raw, and then mix it with the flour and stuff. When you pour everything in the pot, you're actually "steaming" the daikon. The water is used to put in the container you're using to steam. You put enough water to fill the pan you're using and go up to the sides of the pan, but not all the way to the rim. As you steam, you should check to make sure the water is still there and not evaporated.

  • Whats your familys nationality? Love the cooking videos btw! Learned to make spam sushi from you lol

  • @0HxTiffany I'm Chinese American born in Hawaii, which explains the Spam. LOL

  • Ahh! I will reference this video when I move out to college and want to eat some real Chinese food. xD

  • I'd love to try this, unfortunately I live in an area where daikons are few and far between. Might have to use a Japanese one (don't tell your mom!)

  • This is great, I understood both languages. Subscribed :D
