Out of the hundreds and thousands of different classical recordings I have heard in my lifetime, I can safely say this is one of my favorites. Heifetz is the greatest violinist the world has ever known and this is one of his best recordings. Listen to variation #4, my favorite.

Variation 2
Variation 3 (0:37)
Variation 4 (1:34)
Variation 5 (2:48)
Variation 6 (3:12)
Variation 7 (5:45)
Variation 8 (7:00)

  • Dear Mr. Aimson, I've already told you that your recordings are excellent. Thank you again.

Do you have any Mussorsky, Glazunov, and mid 20th Century Soviet composers besidess Prokoviev and Schostakovic who are the only teo we get to hear at concerts in Italy at the Milan Conservatory which is Italy's foremost school of music and composition?

  • @sergelew Glad you enjoy them. I try to post the ones that are most worth it, at least at the time for me. I don't have the recordings you've mentioned, I actually don't really like 20th century classical music at all in general. I don't think I've played or even listened to much more than Bach on violin or piano in 2 years. Damn that Glenn Gould...

  • variation VI, tempo di valse, is played so incredibly well! love this recording all the way through!!

  • I love the Tempo di Valse part!

Yesterday I went to a concert at my University. The Moscow Piano Trio performed this piece, but I really like the Heifetz version much more. And the whole piece overall is the best composition of Tchaikovsky I've heard.

Thanks for sharing this with us!

  • Thank you very much for this recording.
