Paul McCartney en Tommy LiPuma in gesprek over het nieuwe album 'Kisses On The Bottom' (release 3 februari)
'Kisses On The Bottom' bevat McCartney's favoriete 'American Songbook'-muziek, waarmee hij is opgegroeid en waaruit hij veel inspiratie haalde voor zijn eigen songs. Zo verwijst de titel naar de opener van het album; 'I'm Gonna Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter', een hit van Fats Waller uit 1935. Daarnaast bevat het album twee eigen composities getiteld 'My Valentine' en 'Only Our Hearts'.

@broomybank Very good point. The "indignity" of ageing is obvious with many contemporary musicians/artists/vocalists....indeed, Eric Clapton is on record (in a YouTube) interview talking about that very thing. The thing about artists of that calibre is that they long since achieved their laurels as younger men, with amazing back catalogue/body of work, that is now timeless.
For me personally it's of great interest to hear their influences from early childhood, then throughout.

Sir Paul still has it! This sounds to be an exceptional album on VINYL & CD, mind you!

I love Macca beyond measure, but his voice has suffered the indignity of ageing, and probably far too much smoking damage over the years, not much anyone can do about that. He is absolutely brilliant though, and I'm looking forward to the album. Tommy Lipuma sounds sympathetic and sensitive. The guy who produced Chaos and Creation probably did the best job with Paul's voice at this stage of his life imho. Diana is married to Elvis Costello, who has worked with Paul in the past.

This album Kisses at the bottom reminds me of Ringos album Sentimental Journey.
