On April 12, 1861, one of the opening shots of the American Civl War was fired at Fort Sumter. While it was in Union hands then, the fort spent most of the civil war as a confederate stronghold. Most of the fort that was there in 1861 was destroyed.

i never been to fort sumter is it like worth going there for or is it small i know how its history but some of the battles i heard were like not worth going for i just want an opinion on the place ive been to fort donelson it looks good in the video

Sadly I couldn't find a message board other than youtube to ask this.
Anyone ever smelled gun powder in the cannons there? The ranger looked at me like I was an idiot when I asked but I smelled it 3 years ago.

Thanks for posting this. My family went to Ft. Sumter 3 years ago and my son is studying the Civil War in 5th grade. He didn't remember a thing about it until I showed him your video! You helped the next generation remember what should never be forgotten!
