One tune in three different picking styles unusual for tenor banjo:

1) frailing - the tutorial is at http://banjosessions.com/?p=86

2) three-finger rolls - look at http://banjosessions.com/?p=60 for some bluegrass rolls

3) Travis picking - look at http://banjosessions.com/?p=30

Tenor banjo is tuned to open G tuning DGdg.

Czech made banjo Janish http://www.janish.info/ - resonator removed and one-piece flange specially cut by Ptacek http://www.ptacekbanjo.com/index_eng.html

  • Man, you are brilliant , yes truly brilliant. Greetings groom Ireland

  • brilliant

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!! this is a great way to listen to the 3 types of playing side by side to compare. My favorite is the travis picking but the rolls and the frailing is good too!! The rolls sounds very 'busy' or 'driving' compared to the two, the frailing is more relaxing and the travis is kind of a medium between the two to me.

You are an awesome musician, I wish I could see this live!!! that must be neat to hear.

  • awesome!!!!!!!!!!
