  • That's a nice fan you got there. I prefer the cast iron and brass kind myself. You can see some videos of my fans if you go to my channel. I don't have any westinghouse fans yet but I do have a 16" Westinghouse tank on my list of fans to grab next.

They might look scary to some people today but you really can't beat them for their awesome performance and top notch craftsmanship.

  • @ess1898 I love the cast and brass fans myself! But the stamped steel westinghouses tend to be much closer to my pricerange, currently have a 12" brass stamped westinghouse, a 9" century, an emerson 27645 all in various states of restoration! but the fan you see in the video is my daily runner, all day every day!

  • Wow. The (presumably metal) fan blades are pretty exposed there. They'd never get away with selling that now; there's too much "danger" that people will chop appendages off with it.

I guess people were generally smarter back in the 20s. :\

  • @bicostp The blades are actually made of micarta, pretty similar to what PCBs are made of today. and yeah, the thing about these fans is you only stick your finger in it once, then you know better!

  • Yeah, you just told me that. Didn't have to tell me again in public to make me look stupid... lol

  • @ElectricRain0 That would be a chihuahua puppy, the oscilator is silent too :D

  • Except the squeaking. Is that the fan or a dog? Oil that thing or something man! XD

  • You just do NOT match that tone. Seriously. I want to sleep to that sound...

...I can't believe you're actually giving me a special appreciation for antique fans. XD
