I shook my head, trying to hold the tears back. One escaped and landed on his finger. I gulped and bit my lip again. I don't think I want to talk about it though. I know he's going to ask...
Joe: Jasmine?
He took my face and made me look at him again. My chin trembled as another tear leaked out of my eyes. "I don't want to talk about it." I murmured, pushing his hand away. The door to the music room opened and Nick waled out, carrying Sara. She was unconscious. I started laughing madly, and I couldn't stop.
Nick put her on the couch and got smelling salts from the kitchen. I was still laughing uncontrollably.
Sara: *sits up and blushes* Shut up Jazz.
"You passed out?" I squealed through my laughter. I could feel Joe laughing a little too, as I was still pressed against his chest.
Sara: *glares at me*
I stopped laughing and looked down, pretending to be abashed.
Sara: Oh stop the act, will you? *laughs* And yes. I did. So what?
I looked up and tried not to laugh. I leaned over to whisper to her. "Did you at least get to.. you know?"
Sara: *blushes bright red* Yes.
I giggled. "I know how much you wanted that." She slapped my shoulder and I laughed. "Love you Sara!"
She looked at me, then looked at Joe, then back at me. Her eyebrows went up in question. I shook my head, instantly becoming quiet again. She looked worried and we both made an excuse and walked outside.
Sara: Are you okay, Jazz?
I looked down and scuffed my sneaker against the pavement. "I don't know..."
Sara: ... Him?
She knew not to say his name, but I knew who she meant. I shivered involuntarily a the memory. "It was so long ago though. You'd think I was better by now!" I stamped my foot in frustration.
Sara: *hugs me* It was last year, Jazzi. That's not all that long. I know.. I know Jonathan hurt you bad.. so you should be allowed to take as much time as you want to deal with it.
I hugged her back. "Thanks Sara." She let go and looked me in the face.
Sara: And maybe, in the meantime, you should let Joe help you feel better?
I giggled and her eyes widened. "Not yet, Sara!" I said, giggling more. "Not like YOU!" She giggled too.
Sara: I still can't believe I passed out!
"You lasted the whole time though, right?" I asked, trying not to laugh more.
Sara: Yeah.. but STILL! *laughs* He must think I'm hopeless.
"No, I bet he thinks you're pretty awesome. I mean, really, you've known him for.. what? Two days? And he's already got you fainting over him." I laughed and ducked when she swung at my head.
Sara: Let's go back inside, yeah?
I nodded and turned. She took my wrist and looked at me intently.
Sara: If I have to, I will murder anyone who hurts you again. Jonas or no, if he EVER tries to force you into it like.. like.. HIM, then he's a dean man. Got that?
I threw my arms around her. "You're the best friend I've ever had Sara." I replied, meaning it with my whole heart.
Joe: What was that about then?
He was playing with my hair now, running his fingers along my scalp and down my back. Sara and Nick went back to the music room, and we could hear guitars now. "Had to talk to Sara."
Joe: About...?
"Girl stuff." I said, hoping to scare him away from asking me again. His one hand slid from my hair and he placed it gently on my waist. I flinched away immediately and involuntarily. Then I remembered who it was and relaxed again, leaning back to rest my back against his chest again. He kept playing with my hair, but I could sense the hesitance.
Joe: What is it, Jazzi? You can tell me, you know that right?
"I.. I know." I said, biting my lip.
Joe: Why won't you then?
"I.. I just.." I took a deep breath. "I'm scared." I admitted in a tiny voice. I turned and curled onto him, pressing my face against his neck.
Joe: *stroked my hair* I'm here if you ever want to talk about it.
"Thanks." I whispered. He kissed the top of my head and started humming 'Hello Beautiful' to me. I fell asleep in his arms.
