@holydiver73 Congratulations on your insight, holydiver73. Actually, North By Northwest '59 served as the protype for the first Bond, Dr No '63, and Roger O. Thornhill for James Bond. So many similarities, even in the prominence of angular, sinister music.

I didn't know the word 'weird' existed in 1946. I'm surprised :)

excellent couple !!!

I get that it's Cary Grant and all... but he just doesn't measure up to slick, debonaire, reserved scene BANDIT that is Claude throughout this film. Proof? Claude should have done time for robbing "Deception" from Bette Davis.

@emma110691 well actually the movie role was written just for him. he then declined the offer.. but tCary was the first choice..

@holydiver73 I see your point, but by the time Bond movies came around he was over 60years old and retiring!! Nuff said.

@holydiver73 you are all right, you coul be a very cany casting man.
If anyone needed any proof the Cary Grant would have made the perfect James Bond, the wine cellar scene is it.

To see the evil delight on "Mother's" face when Alex tells her about Alicia. Can we say Oedipus?
