  • Which version is the Marklin model? Marklin has made numerous 103s and E 03s. I just got the E 03 001 model from Marklin (item number 37575), so that's why I'm asking.

  • @KingBuick

According to the Marklin box it's item #3053 & road number 103 237-4.

  • @electricrailz Thanks very much for the information. Marklin has made numerous models of the E 03/ 103 electric, so it gets very confusing to see which model is which.

Is it Analog or Digital? By the look of the item #, it seems to be early Digital or Analog.

  • @KingBuick

It's Digital. I've bought a small collection of Marklin products from a closeout store and they all came in there white boxes except for the Amtrak "ICE" #3700 which has a grey box.

  • @electricrailz Wow. You have the Amtrak ICE model? Is it the Marklin one? Because that model is VERY VERY RARE today. I buy from Modellbahn Collectors, and they used to have it but it must've been snatched up... What was the closeout store called? And where was it?

  • @KingBuick

I purchased the Amtrak "ICE" by Marklin along with some other pieces in NYC about two years ago and believe they came from a hobby store called Manhattan Trains which had closed down I believe in 07.

I am a fanatic of the ICE train and own many variations from different manufactures by Fleischmann, Roco, Marklin & Trix.

  • @electricrailz thnx for answering, anyway. I think as well the Roco models drive the smoothest most of the times. regards.

  • @02081912Frabas

Sorry for the late response, but in my opinion to your question I would say Roco because of its all wheel drive that powers both bogies.

It's a tie between the Marklin & Fleischmann because of its pancake style motor that operates only on one bogie. Still they run fairly well being there are the older models.

  • With which one you can drive smoothest?

Does the Fleischmann have still the durable roundmotor in thes engines. *****
