My Precor is making a squealing noise. Does anyone know what it is?

I replaced the bearings in the resistance disk assembly last year. But it sat for months. Could those same bearings have corroded again? Or is this another problem?

Help me solve this!

  • Turns out it WAS the belt. If you have this "bleating" sound, a little belt dressing solves the problem.

I tore the machine apart and replaced bearings myself to no avail. Lots of work wasted. Only afterward did I try the belt dressing.

  • Where did you get the bearings?

Trocou a correia acabou o problema.

    um grade abraço amigo

  • Your drive belts are out of alignment or worn. For a temporary test. The the ribs with a spray lube. The noise will go away but will return when the lube is gone.

Wipe the belt ribs with a clean rag and adjust the flywheel angles.

  • Did you get this fixed? I have a 5.21 I just bought, It worked great the past 3 days and now when I just went to get on it , I hear a VERY similar sound. help!!!

  • yep- input bearings- hope it is warranty..

  • Hi, these noise are because the bearings are damage from the flywhell when are put the side arms, the center shaft.

  • I have the same problem on my 517i. Only not as noisey as yours. Mine is just a quiet squeeker almost like belt slipping on plastic making whining sound. Not a bearing. Probably dirt or maybe the plastic idler puller has developed fat small spots, I am going to examine closely. I am hestitant to spay silcone (or any lubricant on the belt & pulley) after learning that is the worst thing you can do to a parafin board treadmill.

  • If you still have the problem with your precor 5.21si, let me know, I just bought one and solved the same problem...
