@Midnite, your a funny guy!! May God bless your Heart!!......this was back in 2005, you think this is good, you should here them now in 2011!!

@Midnite4Life777 i agree somewhat with what ur sayin dat people don't know the history and pose like they know, but i do not think it is impossible for tahitians to make effective beats for their hura. the resources are scarce for most (da only book i know of CI drumming is by jon jonassen).cook islanders have every right to feel howevers on the matter cuz it confuses mark of their identity, but if you're not CI maori you shoudn't be concerned.don't put down others but rather praise the righteous

And jus cuz u are a "Kumu hula" of hawaiian culture how does dat make you a better or more knowledgeable person then others regarding the Cook islands culture? I notice Kumu Hula's some how are master drummers and Tahitian dancers as well! LOL! All Puni Puni! Jus admitt u dont know ur history of da drums and you cant drum! Tamariki te kuki airani IMUA IMUA MUA!

Has any1 found a video of "Tahitian drumming" before 1950? instead of jus arguing why not try and prove "MRkanakaNui" wrong by finding a vid of tahitian dumming b4 1950 as he claims? Ive been trying to find some but to no avail, i guess Braddah is right!

@MrKanakaNui Brah u are so right, if u never say "dumbazz" nobody could respond 2 it! They all just assume wat they assume and dont take the time to research their history! I did read the "Missionary Travels in da Pacific" which u stated above and its fact! No toere/tokere/pate's were ever found on Tahiti! And people remember its not "Islands of Tahiti" LOL, Can you please post other books i should read to learn more about cook islands drumming and stuff. Mahaloz 4 ur opinion and info Aloha!

brothers and sisters what ever you call it, it all comes back to us da polynesians....that's where it came from and where it will always be, these guys are awsome anyway you look at it, anyone wanting to learn polynesia makes it more greater for us. so spread da luv to all that are welcoming and all that are willing..
A'ole no MRKANAKANUI!!! How shame.... Makes me sad to see kanaka bad mouthing other Polys. We all in this together, we all came from different places and brought with us what we had. Cook islanders brought their music to Tahiti, tahitians made it to fit their needs then brought it to Hawaii and it was reformed even further. Cook Islands still get the recognition. Our sound today all over polynesia are sounds borrowed and reformed from EACH OTHER!!!
