As a college student, I see there's much truth in what is said about segregated institutions, this is not what MLK envisioned. But what is not discussed is the fact that diversity of thought is not practiced in HBCUs, because their universities are in reality "monoversities". They want you to learn everything through an ebony colored lens when fortunately, the real world is not like that. Call it what it is, black separatism: a skew of reality and a disservice to any open-minded student.

Is that Jack Black and Donnie Osmond?

Morehouse College should not be about cultivating men but cultivating only black men. Morehouse College should accept only black men to become its students.
Also, the Morehouse College faculty should be only black men.
Bottomline, Morehouse College should not be advertised or presented as a mens college but The Black Man's College.

It was a really good conversation. It's too bad we don't have open conversations like that more often where people express themselves without clashing. Andrea looked amazing in that dress.

Well ,ost colleges are majority white.anyone can join any college the only difference between FAMU and FSU is that one is historically black. FAMU did not ever say that whites can't attend their school, they just never came and as a result FAMU evolved to better suit its customers who are black its as simple as that.
same goes for Traditionally white with the exception of allowing anyone to enter.
Rainy is right.
'Historically black' means they used to be black colleges. ALMOST ALL COLLEGES ARE historically white colleges.

Everyone does not marvel or romanticize over Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s ideals...there were other significant black leaders that spoke about these types of issues. One person I think worth mentioning in the conversation is Malcolm X. It is important that we maintain historically black institutions and NOT do away with them. I am all about diversity. As an educator, I see the importance and the NEED to still have Black history taught and the opportunity to attend a historically black school.
