If you have ever read any of the original writings by thomas jefferson or james madison (among others) you would find that they were 100%, TOTALLY consumed with the concept of Natural Rights. These principles were formed by great minds like John Locke, whom Jefferson called part of the holy trinity of minds in the history of the world.
