An overview of the Marine Animal Rehabilitation Center at UNE's Marine Science Center, as presented by Kerra Gearinger, Angela Nason and Karin Luzzolino, three undergraduate marine biology majors.
I have volunteered at the canter 4awhile, not giving names 2 the animals was weird at first but I understand the process. You do get attached 2 them. Each one, wanted them 2 get strong enough 2 go back 2 the wild. It was the hardest thing I had 2 do this spring help & watch a favorite seal of mind grow stronger each week & then after 3 months of care to release her back to the wild. YES, I cry but there were tears of joy knowing I was apart of something so special. Volunteer and you will see.
maybe its their way for not getting to attached to the animal. They said that after they take animals through the rehab process they release it, and if you become to attached to the animal, it will be difficult to let it go again. Although I know what you mean, I do wish she gave the seal a name. It was annoying to watch her call him/her number 46.
