Yea that's where I heard it too. I was out in my car and I came straight home and looked it up here. I love PHC and I love Youtube. Although sometimes Youtube can be too good in the sense that it's easy to over-do it. Bit like eating caviare all day...sooner or later it's gonna make you wanna vomit.

quite a strange song to cover, has she ever talked about the reasons for covering the song?
Fuck the Shankill Butchers, evil bastards.

Awesome! Hoping to do a support gig with her in U.K. in July. Amazing talent. :o)

What mando is she playing in this video?

@richit66 Just what I was thinking , and to complete the circle weren't Rickie lee Jones and Tom Waits together early 80's ??

I just discovered sarah, I even haven't heard about her before in my life, and she amazed me, she's really pretty she's got talent, she's got alot goin' for her.... she's AMAZING..

Just saw them for the first time on ACL. Was blown away by their talent, & especially Sarah's voice & that great picking style of hers. They all look like their ditching high school.

@clamdraggin I too saw her on Austin City Limits. At first listen I thought her performance was kind of flat, nothing that would stick in your mind. Then she closed with this song. I became an instant fan. I think her song writing my need some polishing but her talent is overwhelming.

@babygotgoing Have you even heard Tom's recording? It's a gospel song and Sarah does a great version of it. Tom's Glitter and Doom show was a religious experience for me.

She definately has the gift. And with all due respect to Tom ..and Rikki. This girl NAILS it. Takes me there. Just saw her and Steve Martin on Austin City Limits
and this song in particular just nailed me to the wall! That southern charm
and soulful wail she has are AWESOME!
I'm a East coast boy raised on alternative Music. Sara reminds me of Rikki Lee Jones in the early 80's. She has a gift!!!

They are all pretty young and you have a good eye and ear. Alex Hargreaves on fiddle is the youngest, just turned 16, and has been known as a prodigy for years (as has SJ), and Samson, or Sam, is 18. The son of David Grisman and playing in the David Grisman Bluegrass Experience band also. Sarah J is I think just turned 17 but I don't know any of these kids personally, just passing on what I've heard. Thanks for stopping by...

You really need to check out the version recorded by twoodburn at WinterGrass 08. It's different, bluesier and he captures her perfectly!
