The Newcastle CBD project will involve a redevelopment of the properties bounded by Perkins Street, Hunter Street, Newcomen Street and King Street in Newcastle, NSW, Australia.
dear GPT, cutting the rail line is just a dumb ass idea, you have a plan to redevelop inner city Newcastle and you want to cut the rail at Whickam, then how are people meant to get to your redevelopment of newcastle if the rail line is cut at whickam? there is just no logic for it. i think its just a big scam to big buisness pushing around a small town....honestly its like telling Sydney to cut their rail line at Redfern.
Rail and Industry, built Newcastle for what it is today.
To destroy, rape or allow profiteering developers to terrorise people into believing this is the best option is just plain wrong.
Save what heritage that's left, before it is too late!
The GPT Group, responsible for this proposal, shares price have dived over 80% in the last 18 months and with the current economy, how can they be trusted to be able to finance this project?
Can you say hello big empty holes and no public transport ?
Now that GPT is out David Jones will be Closed for good and be demolished with just an empty space.
At least we still have the one at Kotara.
