@jingeshan24 nah, read more about it. Apparently there's a rule against not wanting to shake hands, lol. Nigel got up because he went to tell the arbiter, and actually that guy lost immediately. Later on there was an appeal and they managed the game to be played the next day, on the condition that it would start with a handshake. Nigel won the game. So the other guy just ended up looking stupid and lost the game anyway, I bet Short had a sound sleep that day.

@tigranvartanovitch Think of it this way.. A chess tournament isn't solely about chess.. It's about chess in regards to your opponents. People are a factor in a tournament. If a tournament chooses not to allow what is popularly considered antisocial behavior, be it becoming violent, screaming, or just shunning your opponent, it's well within their right to do so. It is well within your right to not play the tournament and stick with computers who don't typically care.
