I think Mangini´s even better than Portnoy, at least clearly in the technical ways. Maybe the performance in the album wasn´t so "brave", but that´s just because of he´s just gotten into DT. Just look at any solo on Youtube, there´s no mistakes anywhere, he plays swift and really, Really well. I don´t really even see the reason they´ve got dislikes. Maybe it´s just some don´t understand what he´s playing or they don´t have headsets LOL. I think he´s a great guy and drummer.

Mike Mangini is without a doubt one of, if not THE greatest drummer. DT now though is missing some little drum flourishes that Mr.Portnoy could bring. I see wht the pimp dude is saying with the musical wankery, but htat is petrucci's style. Changing the drummer will have no affect on this. Dream theater will always have parts in songs where it does sound like thay are tuning up, and being a guitarist myself, i appreciate the skill required to pull this off. DT do it well. @nenissaK he is infinitely better than portnoy technically. Dislikes are just the dumbasses that dont like portnoy out of the band. People forget that portnoy asked to freeze the entire band just so he can do his little projects. What I've head is that the drum tracks for the album were already composed by Ruddess and Petrucci even before they picked the drummer.

Mangini isn't too prominent on the new DT album because that's what DT wanted. They were finally free from Portnoy's overbearing presence and everybody took the opportunity to stretch their wings. Petrucci didn't have to play forced metal riffs, Rudess played more piano, LaBrie isn't wailing all the time, Myung wrote lyrics. They're comfortable now and Mangini will shine in their next album.

@OneTakeJesus Dude if he suck sooooo bad why he tour with Tony Macalpine who is compared to steeve vai and all these thing ... im talking here to have a open mind and just for your information i saw the audition and go look when he talk about his preparation .... when he only knew that he receive his invitation like 2 or 3 days before the audition anyway i know mike is better technicaly than aquiles but aquiles he dosn't suck ....
