See the pattern written out at: http://jazztrumpetlicks.com/2009/09/major-triad-jazz-pattern-tritone-apart/ This triad pair is really easy to learn and it sounds kind of cool to play over modal stuff. These major triads repeat themselves over and over and are a tritone apart.
If you don't know what a tritone substitution is I'll quickly explain. A tritone is a b5 or #4 from your starting note. In the above trumpet sound sample, I play a C major triad, then go up a tritone to F# major triad.
basically if it's a tritone lick, it would be good on a Dominant chord, correct?

@1979saxman Yes, since almost anything can be played over dominant chords.

That was concert Bb and E because the trumpet is a Bb instrument...right? Those ideas work really well on altered chords with a natural 13 and all of the related tonic diminished chords.

Yeah, that's right. If you think in concert pitch it is concert Bb and concert E.
Yes, this does work well on altered chords. Cool.
