Some random noodling with my new partscaster. 1994 Fender MIM body (Poplar with 1/4 ash veneer top, swimming pool rout) with Warmoth Pro goncalo alves neck. Pau ferro fretboard, Dimarzio HS-2 neck pickup, Dimarzio HS-3 bridge pickup, Fender Tex-Mex middle pickup with Stewmac Megaswitch S model switch to split the Dimarzios in Position 2 and 4, and combine the neck and bridge pickup in position 3.
GFS Brass Trem block, Wilkinson vintage Kluson-style tuners.

  • @jamesabrush I really like the feel of the raw wood. It's actually about as bright as a maple on maple neck for two reasons, pau ferro fretboard is almost as bright as maple. Mainly, though because the dual truss rod design of the Pro necks have so much steel in the truss rod gutter that it really brightens up the neck overall. A couple things on this guitar done to counter the brightness, like adding a brass trem block, and using Dimarzio HS pickups which are known to be dark. Balances well!

  • do you like the goncalo alves neck? does it warm up the tone a lot?
