A great idea; a wonderful opportunity for an amazing creation - wasted. "Democratic" and "anybody can play it and realize they're not any better or worse than anyone else" is a cop out. He was basically admitting he didn't know enough about music to make it happen. Imagine if he had! It would be like the organ in the Luray Cavern . . . . hmmmm. Did he perhaps plagerize that?

I totally agree man! Some people just feel the need to take just the positive qualities from a celebrity and put them up on a pedestal and in a glass case. Of course, then they're going to tell you you're jealous. David shouldn't be invincible from critical comments. He's touchable and human just like anyone else.

In fact, anyone who likes his work without any true understanding of it is probably hurting his reputation as an artist.

I disagree. Contemporary ideas discussing the role of the public, the participant, has investigated this idea through and through. To be contemporary is to have very little to do with refined tastes and embraces the social realm.

Those who criticize are often successful at doing less than what they ravage. Art knows no critic.

Love this, I bet it sounds really nuts when you're actually inside the building. David Byrne is a pretty incredible guy.

What I'M wondering, is this: When can the "public" (i.e.,me. you, whoever) get to experience this, and who "plays", David ? Has it begun yet? Is it over already? How much $ to get in? Could I get a grant to do this in my home town.I'm both an electrician and blues musician.Bet I could make it play the Pentatonic scale, using SOLAR power! You forgot to think "GREEN" Mr. Byrne, but you're a genius nontheless .(,like you need me to tell you that) .This is simply FANTASTIC !
