Here's a different version of this amazing song with Susan Anway (the original lead singer for Magnetic Fields) on vocals. It appears on the 1999 album "Oh Merge!", a record celebrating Merge Records' 10th anniversary. But it might have been recorded earlier... I really don't know.

  • i love e and magnetic fields. such a great song. reminds me of being loaded with all my friends, staring out at the stars ,smiling my face off..

  • You used to slide down the carpeted stairs Or down the banister You stuttered like a kaleidoscope 'Cause you knew too many words You used to make gingerbread houses We used to have taffy pulls Take ecstasy with me, baby Take ecstasy with me You had a black snowmobile We drove out under the northern lights A vodka bottle gave you those raccoon eyes We got beat up just for holding hands Take ecstasy with me, baby Take ecstasy with me

  • i love e and magnetic fields. such a great song. reminds me of that time i got beaten up while out walking with my love..

  • hott dangg this is a good songg

  • i love matching this up with the other version with stephin singing, so that it's both of them singing in unison sounds majestic to say the least...

  • this is the best version

  • The numbers are disturbing.

    This record is haunted.

    I don't know where I am anymore.

Really? He wins. It's not even the best song on the record. This thing is saying the world is dead. I don't know about really caring, I just know what I see.

  • I first listened to this song in a car after seeing the MF at the American Music Hall in 99. It was totally hypnotic, It felt like the sky at night and made me drunk... luckyly I wasn't driving! I was also drunk in love, now she's long gone but everything still feels the same... uhm, Isn't this the therapy channel?;-)

  • I actually heard this version of the song before I heard Holiday. It was the first Magnetic Fields song I heard. Many years and what seems like a MILLION songs later, this is still one of my favorites.

  • this is absolutely my favorite version, better than stephin merrit singing (who I love), way better than the !!! dancehall version,
