Low-range speaker membrane motion on very low frequencies. Music: Gabriel Pierné, Trois pieces, Prélude. Liverpool Cathedral organ. The microphone of the camera is overloading due to the high sound level close to the speaker, the ampifire is not overdriven. The speaker is a 15inch Eminence in a bass-reflex enclosure, tuned to 18Hz resonator frequency. For details about the amplifier look here: http://historische-elektronik.piranho.de/index-Dateien/Endstufe%20Typ%202.htm

@nexgenhippy We are seeing 'aliasing' --the sample rate of the camera is too low to accurate sample the cone motion.

@CorvetteCoonass That's an uninformed opinion. Newer subwoofer technology makes possible bass in large amounts down to less than 8Hz. The TRW18 is interesting tech, but I find it's output too low for my tastes.
Today with some drivers capable of 3.6" of distortion-free excursion, they can move the equivalent of 20 18" woofers from ten years ago. Proper transmission line cabinet with tuning in the single digits provides 140dB+ at 16Hz with only a few hundred watts input.

@Zylstra555 Rotary subs are about the only speakers able to reproduce pitches that low.

About about a 128FT? Or would that just be beyond what any speaker could reasonably make/

the video camera shutter is phasing with the speaker vibrations which is why it looks a bit strange sometimes
