The first 40 seconds of the video are devoted to my Mustang as it sounded before modifications were made...stock system. The latter part of the video is after MAC shorty headers, UPR X-pipe with catalytic converters and Flowmaster mufflers were installed. Now it sounds more like a Mustang should..and it has noticeably improved performance..and fuel economy should be improved as well.
Exhaust systems remain one of the few ways improved performance doesn't cost fuel mileage.

  • Is that your sisters old car? The reason I ask is because I don't understand why you would intentionally buy an automatic.

  • @hilltopfarmsplumbing No, it's mine. I actually prefer automatics. I have an 09 GT California Special with manual...it's fine for the fun of it, but for everyday driving, automatics are fine by me. Moreover, many of the older Mustangs with manual trannies are no longer with us...automatics are more likely to survive because it's a better bet they've been driven more conservatively. Also, as you get older, knees act up and using the clutch can be literally painful...Thanks! :) Jack

  • Sounds great Jack, great choice for that pony.

I bet the neighbors just love you for all the noise you make.... haha

its ok...for I make enough noise with my own cars.

I say, " If its too loud, then your too old".

  • @XboobtubeX Hey, Bob! LOL..haven't had any complaints yet..the 72 is even louder! Could be the decrease in hearing acuity so common in the "older" population! Thanks! :D Jack

  • Oh Yeah!!!!!!!

  • @jferg7159 Hey, Joe! Yeah...sounds like a Mustang should! Thanks! :) Jack

  • @1968DodgePolara That's a common situation, I'm figuring...and it gives some interesting insight in the emissions testing...evidently, they give a fairly wide berth for passing older cars. The important point seems to be does the car appear to have cats! Thanks! :) Jack

  • @cheddyrod Hey, Chester! Glad it registers well...I am impressed with my lowly video camera being able to capture the sound! Thanks! :) Jack

  • @raconter1 Mississippi has a state required inspection, but oddly enough.. exhaust systems aren't a part of it. Here it seems as if you can run anything from stock exhaust to obnoxiously loud straight pipes, glasspacks, etc..

  • Here in VA we don't have emission checks here but we have once a year State inspections that requires catalytic converters to be on the Car so back in my younger years When I was broke my Catalytic clogged up I did not have the money too replace it because it was well over priced I just hollowed it out put a straight pipe in it and put it back on the car it passed inspections over the years until I sold it I called it a dummy Catalytic Converter. Always a loop hole in the law.
