@vividwatch47 Because I grew up with it, I've recently been re-visiting Hawaii Five-O on Netflix. In Season One, episode 11 "Deathwatch", 13 minutes in during the second patio scene, acoustic guitar is playing in the background, and it is certainly the same theme used for The CBS LATE MOVIE. From all of the comments, it's interesting how powerful this music was for a generation of kids.

Before my time, but I like it.

Who did the voiceover for those CBS movie bumpers?

My God you are knowledgeable, Vivid!!

I've always hated this particular bumper because it meant that the movie was almost over and it was time to get to bed...

This was the second bumper. The intro was used on all of C.B.S. prime time movie shows until 1974 (though the music stayed around for awhile on the Late Movie). I believe it was composed by Morton Stevens. Watch for the episode of "Gilligan's Island" when one of Gilligan's teeth becomes a radio transmitter, and you can hear the original version of the C.B.S. movie theme as he opens his mouth, used from 1965-1971 (Morton Stevens was also musical supervisor on this show).

That always brings back tearful memories... sitting up late at night while school was out for the summer and our mother would let us stay up late to watch the cbs late movie following city camera news on then cbs affiliate wjw in clebeland. The music was very scary though.

The music they used here is one of two different clips from the CBS Late Movie. The other one is not as scary.
Awesome video, sure brings back memories. I was a teenager then. Hey KLXT77, there a late movie that used to broadcast every Saturday night at 10:30pm on WBBM-TV Channel 2 in Chicago. It was called The Best of CBS and it used this same bumper during commercial breaks. I've been trying to find it for years. Would love to have it if you can it. Thanks for the posts. What great memories.

I was in Sacramento, and most of my stuff was recorded personally, so I don't have anything from Chicago. I'd love to see that bumper, though, and hopefully someone will eventually post it.

Yep. That was THE BUMPER that used to scare the living snot out of me as a child. That abrupt "bong" followed by music that reminded me of a wailing child; and the fact that it usually accompanied scary movies...the stuff of nightmares. But I love very much seeing it again!! Thanks for uploading it!!!

I like your description of the music. I've been trying to find a copy for years, and only last weekend did I stumble upon this in my own collection. Never knew I had it, and never thought I'd hear it again.
I don't have much more from The CBS Late Movie, but I'll look around and post what I've got.
