Nothing has been provided by PR to assure of the points you have considered. No financial statements or study, no polls by the population, and other things such as language have not been discussed and should be in order to give it any serious consideration. The PR governor is acting on his party's interests and he has not consulted his country to ask for this

How many times have the people of Puerto Rico voted against statehood? And yet Congress is still pushing for it. This is to guarantee two new Democrat Senators and 6-8 new Democrat Reps in perpetuity, not that the Republicans have done any better.
