  • [TBC] It owes its success to six historic advances in the telescope world. At the heart of each lies a major technological innovation, that allowed astronomers to build bigger telescopes. One by one, travelling up the scale, we'll reveal the incredible stories behind these optical giants, and the inventions that allowed them to grow ever larger. Six ingenious leaps forward that enabled telescopes to grow, from Big, to Bigger, into the world’s BIGGEST!"

  • Prologue as narrated by voiceover John Michie:

"It stands three-thousand metres above the Arizona desert, gazing into the night sky. Its giant mirrors can pick up light from stars nine-billion light years away. Thanks to it, astronomers can see further into space than ever before. The Large Binocular Telescope is the biggest optical telescope on the planet, and the culmination of over three-hundred years of engineering genius. [TBC]
