On Saturday, September 15, 2007, the ANSWER Coalition, a progressive antiwar group, sponsored a Mass March and Die-In in Washington, D.C. Its purpose was to raise the consciousness of enough people in this country to stop the illegal and immoral Iraq War and to prevent the Bush-Cheney Gang from launching a war against Iran. The rally took place in Lafayette Park, just north of the White House, where a number of prominent speakers were heard. It was followed by a march by the demonstrators to the U.S. Capitol, where a symbolic "Die-In" took place. The later affair was led by members of the Iraq Veterans Against the War. An estimated 1,000 of the protesters took part in the "Die-In" part of the event. Some of the demonstrators were also arrested by Capitol Hill police for failing to obey a police order, or for crossing a police line, and/or for possibly various other charges, too. One of the protesters arrested was Brian Becker, National Coordinator for the ANSWER Coalition. For additional details, and updates, on the Sept. 15th rally, and for the exact number of arrests, please see: www.ANSWERCoalition.org. At 11 PM, on 9/15/07, ANSWER was reporting that there had been about 200 arrests at the Capitol and that about 5,000 protesters had ended up participating in the "Die-In."

  • Where are the protestors now that Barack is in office, and the wars are continuing?

  • The protesters are very lucky that the US Capitol Police are consumate professionals. The US Capitol Police prove that we are the greatest nation on this planet!

  • Problem with America right now we are a war machine.54% of our industry is Milatary based,Gov't employs 23% and the rest are supported by both industries directly or indirectly. Now they want the rest of the unemployed to come and join the civil security force,or worse implament a draft..If you hate war, greed and corruption as much as me I suggest talking your babies to South America.

  • You are all fuck-tards!

  • You all are fuck-tards

  • @MorgainePen A CIA agent overseas once told me,"The CIA says that "Widespread Civil Disobedience" is the greatest fear of the American government -Why? Because when Americans see how far the federal government is actually willing to go to STOP civil disobedience, they will revolt against their government, there will be civil war and the federal government will commit genocide against their own people. The signs of preparation for dealing with civil disobedience are everywhere." We need Ron Paul!

  • People should not be arrested for protesting a government of Organized Criminals. We have a right and duty to protest a criminal government. Violence is the only real answer to government oppression, no matter what country you are in. In the world today, it is obvious that many governments are trying to establish what amounts to DICTATORSHIPS, that's why they are so bent on disarming the people.

  • Ah it appears the hippies havent died out. How unfortunate

  • It only takes one person to shoot a gun.

If one person pulled the trigger, all hell would break loose. Instead of standing there and yelling "Let him go", actually do something about it. The cops are obviously not going to let him go. So hop the barricade, get crunk, and shake your junk.

In the end, it is going to have to come down to violence. It's inevitable just like RastafariPoet said. So why not do it now while they are not prepared. Don't let them get the chance to fight back.

  • "Those who make peaceful change impossible, make violent revolution inevitable." -- John F. Kennedy
