din is a free software musical instrument only for the GNU/Linux operating system. with din you can make music with just your computer mouse and keyboard. it also supports JACK, OSC & MIDI.

din uses bezier curves for waveforms, FM & AM, envelopes, drones and FX.

in this demo we create 143 drones -- initially on the key note, 4th and 5th notes but very soon on all the microtones inbetween. you can edit drones in bunches, pitch shift them, change their volume & change their timbre by editing the waveform all in realtime.

you can download din at http://www.dinisnoise.org/

  • Saw this on createdigitalmusic and was blown away. It's one of those things that appear so obvious and simple in terms of interface that only a genius could design it. This looks so amazingly natural to use and the sound is out of this world, not through hi-fidelity but through the interaction of the harmonics. This creates something wonderfully complex from such a simple source.

It's squares on a screen and it's perfect in every way!
