It seems everyone is finding great Groupon coupons to restaurants, stores and salon services. But its rapid growth is also revealing something else, some downsides you need to know about.
People HAVE to realize that it is the business that causes these problems, NOT Groupon. A company contacts Groupon and decides what they want to offer. Prices, restrictions, etc. are all up to the company. Basically Groupon provides free marketing. Businesses don't actually SPEND money to make these deals happen. Its up to the business to have a good deal, service, encourage return business...the bakery that said it COST her $8K was lying.
@mcdiver69 Groupon is affective advertising. Advertising in a paper or online; your hoping someone looks at your ad and then buys. I have worked in print advertising for almost 10 years and I know that this model is something shaking the industry as it works. A full page ad can cost anything from £$700 - £$8000 and may not get you any customers at all but if your parting with £$700-£$8000 for a groupon ad thats because groupon get you results. Then its upto you to get them to return!
Most groupon deals are good for Groupon, good for the customer but really really bad for the business. Beware when buying into groupon - every sale is going to COST you money - whereas in most advertising (and make no mistake, Groupon is advertising) you MAKE money with each sale.
Everybody got something negative to say about something if they did not event it and become a billion dollar company in 2 years. lol The people in this video don't use common sense you cannot get a discount on a discounted item already you know that. As far as using the restaurant coupons on friday saturday and sunday or their best nights they don't need to pull customers for those nights. Common Sense people. I think it work the lady was out of $8000 because she sold to many groupons greed.lol
