One of English and European football's most decorated goalkeepers ever and part of the all-conquering Liverpool team of the 1970s that dominated domestic and European honours, including winning the European Cup in 1977, 1978 and 1981. After making 665 appearances for the Reds, Clemence joined Tottenham Hotspur where his pursuit of silverware continued winning The FA Cup and UEFA Cup.
Disgustingly underrated on the world stage. If England had been a more dominant side then Clemence should/would have been Eng;and's number 1 for a lot longer.
No offence to Shilts who was a fantastic keeper but Clemence could have fallen asleep woken up in the 89th minute and still made a world class save to win the game. How do I know? Because he played for Liverpool and did pretty much that at times.
