@cozene35 Picked up my Season 1 set over the Christmas holidays and enjoying now. Disc 1 actually disappointed me, especially the weak and slow moving pilot movie. But I persevered and now almost done the whole set. Very good show.

One of the first attempts at big govt propaganda to anesthetize us to the brutality and dishonesty of the big city police departments.

I have seen a few episodes of the show, during the 1970s, and I love the closing credits.

Never missed an episode of the early Police Story, and would get pissed if I couldn't get home to watch it (no VCR/TIVO etc. in those days). I liked the closing music and tried to copy it on the guitar, but the network narrator would usually yack about what was crap was coming on next while the music was playing. Police Story was so realistic for a TV show; only a cop like Wambaugh could do it... but the later episodes got hokey as hell and I had to quit watching it.

Sure... but so was the police profession in 1973.

Wow, this just cleared up a fuzzy childhood memory from when I was younger. Had been looking for this closing music forever!

Police Story was so male dominated.

Police Story can be seen on the RTV Network Mon-Fri Nights; i think they showing either the first or second season in order, i'm not sure(i think its the 2nd season).

Police Story-the first season is coming to DVD this fall!!!
I watched this on the A&E channel in the mid-90's and totally fell in love with it. Nothing comes close to gritty 70's crime drama shows. I love how there was always different characters each episode.

I remember Police Story was ahead of its time in that most of the open sequence was the first scene of the show (with the credits superimposed).. with only a stinger with the theme heading to the first break..or something to that effect.. I'm glad to see the close "in the clear" after all these years. Where I grew up, they always did a voice over promoing something so you couldn't enjoy it.
