I've been wanting to do this for a while now. And anyone who knows me also probably knows how much I usually hate English dubs. So basically this is dedicated to those people, especially since the majority of them prefer English dubs anyway and know just how to piss me off about them :3 (right, DMcI123?)

For the most part, this video is free of commentary. I play sections of the Japanese dub, and then I play sections of the English dub. I figured any comment in the actual video would just be annoying, and anyway, I think it gets the point across just by watching the comparisons...

And yes, I am well aware that there are dubs worse than this one. But for me, this dub pretty much killed one of my favorite animes. I thought it was a good example (especially since there are so many good examples in this anime to use).

DISCLAIMER: I don't own Kanon 2006 in any way, this is simply a compilation of clips that don't belong to me.

  • Also, Japanese Makoto-"Auu"

    English Makoto- "ow"

  • @tim2slimjim EXACTLY. I'm glad there's someone out there who can tell the difference..."a-uu" is not the same as "ow".......ouo;;;

  • I'm with you on the dub thing. There are only one or two animes I can watch in English dubs. And Kanon is definitely NOT one of them. I tried to watch it dubbed, but it nearly made my ears bleed.

Us silly Americans don't know how to voice certain characters and it pisses me off sometimes. Like really? That's the voice you thought she should have? You suck.

    I'm going back to subs.

  • @tim2slimjim Yep...honestly, I made this video so long ago that there are things even I don't like about it anymore, but every time I get a comment like this I'm glad I still have it up ^^' People all have their own opinions, and I respect that, but I can't help feeling encouraged when someone agrees with me on this particular subject x'D So thank you, and I hope you keep watching my videos in the future! :)

  • Thanks unlike Clannad im watching this in subs.

  • @EhlekCoolDude Haha no problem; glad I could help~ ;D

    And Japanese Nayuki: Nyuu

    English:......

  • @NagisaFTW

If you can't read the subs without pausing it, you need to learn to read faster. I can read subs perfectly fine, unless it's like, the three people talking at once thing.

  • I say that real anime watchers watch subs but i don't have a problem with dubs well....... my sister watched the sailor moon dub and it was horrible! I'm glad that other people like subs better and that they don't have to have every thing english!

  • Seems fine to me.

  • I hate having to explain this....Everyone has their own opinions. Personally, I like dubs better because it's better to understand the dialogue by just listening to the voices rather than having to constantly pause the video to read the subs in case you missed something.

Remember this wise saying: Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one and they all stink.
