WWF's Pandamonium project, in collaboration with Artwise Curators, invited top British artists and designers to create innovative and memorable artworks out of old panda collection boxes - helping spread WWF's message that the worlds rapidly changing climate affects people, wildlife and the natural world.
In Laura Ford's 'Encrusted Panda', the barnacles encrusting the panda and its baby look destructive, but theyre intended to signify a healthier environment (where barnacles are not affected by chemicals in ship paints).
Ford says: "My impression of WWF has changed a lot because I hadnt really thought about it probably since I was a kid, so I just assumed they were doing the same sort of things, you know saving tigers and pandas and nothing much else But of course doing those things has knock-on effects, so it makes it a much more interesting organisation, and much more relevant to todays issues."
