@PhysicalsimForever Opus numbers after Op. 70 or so (which includes this quartet as well as his piano sextet) were assigned posthumously.

this is one of my favorite chamber pieces!

The painting in the video. Does anyone know if this is one of Mendelssohn's own paintings?

I completly agree !!!!!! Mendelssohn is a real gesius !!! So amazing I love him !

I'm just curious to know if the 'cellist in this fine group is related to the great baritone Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, if you know.
This is such a wonderful work, and thank you very much for posting it.

@PhysicalsimForever Uhh, wow, aren't you overreacting a bit... maybe? The way I see it, he simply worded his thoughts wrong, and I felt like pointing that out. Fact is, Mendelssohn was *saddened* by his sister's *death*, and that's that. Period. If you want to add something to that, you could also say that he probably knew he was soon to die himself. -- You are right of course, but still, let's try not to make a controversy where there was none, mmh?
the quartet's name is Cherubini, not Cherubibi!!! please change, because I study with Prof. Schoneweg and i've been looking for his quartet and couldn't find anything! but thank you for putting this up!!
