David Strathairn speaks out against the proposed Tar Sands Keystone XL pipeline and urges all those opposed to have their voices heard on November 6th in Washington, DC.
I thought you were smart, Stathairn. I'm from Alberta, the most pristine place on the planet. Bitumen that has ALWAYS been on the banks of rivers and lakes in Northern Alberta is being CLEANED UP and used as fuel. But you wouldn't know that, would you?
Canada has many markets for our oil. We'll shut off the taps to America then you can be happy knowing that the gas in your car is paying for the nukes being produced by barbarians that will eventually kill you and everything on the planet.
I am not part of any organization, I am an observer who sees US descending in to a banana republic, well it already is, better word is Kleptocracy. It is sad to see 72% of your countryman getting a rotten deal in form of corrupt political system that does not represent any of you who voted for them. Obama said that he is a change and he'll change how business is done in Washington, from what I've seen thus far he is same as W'ya.
You truly want a change, change who/how you vote for!
@woodsprout Because I'm not American, I am a Brit, that lived/worked in US (my job was international in scope), UK has alternative to the current political setup, they are called the Green Party if you are concern with the Green issues or Liberal Democrats (in gov-coalition atm) If US had political alternatives to current 2, I am sure you'd have better political system in place, as it is now, corruption is rife, Corruption in States is one of the worst in developed world, it has to change!
@woodsprout if all abstain despite the other side actions, elections will be considered illegitimate or at least null and void,or it'll send a serious undertone through the corridors of Democratic party,change or perish,perhaps from the ashes a new progressive party with real social concerns might rise, party that will have support of many progressives and centrist who represent 70-32% of US electorate.
America needs reforms of the entire election/political process, how politicians are elected and it has to be independent of big business, what is happening in America and on capitol hill is utter madness, in any civilized society that would be considered corruption of the worst kind. I'd call for boycott of the next elections until reforms of the whole system is enacted where big business can't influence politicians through lobby or financial incentives
good luck with that, but we all know what kind of a president Obama is, useless and already paid for by big business. I fear only way to change his mind is not to vote for him come the next elections, Democracy in America has been hijacked by the big greedy corporations and the wall street, it needs changing, bu knowing most politicians on the capitol hill have been bought and paid for by big business, it'll be an uphill struggle.

@micoforion Why aren't you building that "new progressive party" right now?
Don't wait for it to "rise from the ashes" from a theoretical future event.
Are you part of an organization calling for this boycott?

@micoforion
Boycotting an election is suicide. ~~~> (because the other side still votes) ...and in your comments that is the only action you suggest.
What do you suggest for becoming involved?
