  • @Kev3542 your right, I just bought myself an epiphone lp standard today, I compared it against a Gibson, and there is a sliiiiiight quality difference I noticed. The only thing that needs replacing is the pickups (even sounded bad on a valvestate amp). Too bassy and not enough gain (I'm not much of a high gain person, but my old Jay Turser Strat did a better job at Slash tones)

Congratulations on the new guitar - you won't regret choosing an Epiphone. As you say, there's a small difference in quality (and tone) to a Gibson, but not enough to warrant an extra £1000.

  • Wow, you are the most talented player iv ever seen, and you really deserve a Gibson, though (IMO) the stock Epiphone pickups give a bit better warmer and bluesy tone then BBs.

Thanks very much. I know what you mean about the stock Epiphone pickups - I tried a Gibson Les Paul at the time I bought my Epiphone and the Epi did sound warmer. I haven't gigged the Epi yet, though, so I sometimes wonder whether the Gibson would cit through the mix better. Either way, as with many other people, I just couldn't justify paying four times the price just to have the word "Gibson" on the headstock.

  • Is this in G?

  • @Vitaminz888

    No, it's in A.

  • Now i understand that i dont need a great guitar. what i need is TALENT! Great music teacher, im downloading your album.

  • Nice!

  • @iHacksorzz

Thanks. I suppose knowing the notes and playing naturally/smoothly are equally important when improvising a solo, although one thing I also think is important is not "over" playing. I really admire players like Miles Davis who can say so much with very few notes.

  • @Kev3542 whats most important to playing like you? Naturally and smoothly? Is it knowing all the notes? Great playing Kev.
