Walls everywhere, children filled with hatred, graveyards and more graveyards. Journalist Ghaith Abdul-Ahad offers an outstanding report from the streets of Baghdad. He asks how his home town is after 5 years of occupation? He finds a city devastated in every way.

At an orphanage in Sadr City, the children express hatred for Americans. "We don't want them here. Many people are dead because of them," cries eight year old Hussein, whose father was killed by a car bomb. This young Iraqi generation have become anti-westernised by the war. On the edge of Sadr City sit Baghdad's killing fields. The scene of thousands of sectarian murders over the last three years. It's a desolate place: "Only the killers and the killed ever come here" says Abdul-Ahad. Here in the unmarked graves lie the victims of the Shia militia gangs. Meanwhile, Baghdad is now a city divided by miles of walls. They divide Sunni and Shia ghettos, "where one street is at war with the next". Anger and desperation appear at every turn.

  • It's terrible what we've done to those people.

It's said that we've killed a million people there. Most are innocent civilians, half are said to be children...

No weapons of mass destruction were found...

We're gong to pay for these war crimes FOREVER...

    Iraq was a modern country...

    What have we done...

  • I dont think freedom and peace will last long in Iraq. Sooner than later another tyrant like Sadaam will take over and place the Iraqi people in hell again.

  • @dale3858 My original statement still stands. When you make statements about my intelligence you show your ignorrance. Since you have not been there you do not know first hand on what goes on day to day. During the time I was there many people went to these schools. I suggest that instead of making rude comments you take a trip over there. Your eyes might be opened, then again, I guess you'd really rather sit in your home and bitch.

  • @MrSweetpig You are not a very intelligent person by the sound of your comments. There were no insurgents in Iraq until the Americans went there, now nearly every insurgent in the middle east has gone to Iraq with the hope of killing Americans. No law or infrastructure has led to civil war as it would in nearly any country.

Colleges and schools are open! did you listen, if that is true, how many go?

You are the one that is misinformed, and I'm pretty sure WE WILL ALL PAY FOR YOUR IGNORANCE!!!

  • @cacsbalaji Agree!!!

  • @dale3858 Iraq was one of the few countries in the Middle East which could have become a secular democracy now there is no chance thanks to US.

  • dale3858 have you ever been to Iraq? I have and I've seen what they (insurgency) has done to the people. I am not misinformed, I have seen it. What about you. It's easy to make statements from the safety and comfort of your computer room. Iraq is still a modern country. Colleges and Schools were open the entire time I was there, shops and stores open for business and you wouldn't believe all the Satellite dishes everywhere in town. You might pay for your ignorance, but not me.

  • @dale3858 It's really terrible what they've done to themselves.

  • funny how sunni and shiites fight so heavily, nice religion. They both feel each should have succeeded the Prophet in running the affairs of the Muslim nation. When muslims cant even get along with other muslims i think its time to look at the religion and practice what it says, not fight about whos in control. Someone tricked them and they really worship a reptilian renegade annunaki hell-bent on world domination and destuction. The entrance to innerearth will open soon, south-pole you'll see.
