Hmm, sorry, we are very protective of Steve. We don't let him leave our HQ building out of fear that other retailers might try to grab him and take advantage of his expertise. So, no, Wal-mart is out of the question.

@pavaleo968 you really won't see a difference in the contrast ratio as you would see a difference between 1080p or 720p.

Is a static contrast ratio of 4500:1 decent for a 31.5" full hd lcd tv? (It's a cheaper brand, only about/lower than $300

Well, here's the thing, since we put this video out, it's only gotten harder to compare one TV's contrast ratio to another's, not easier. Some manufacturers don't list a contrast ratio spec, and many only list the dynamic contrast ratio. So, based on the price of the TV you are asking about, it's contrast ratio is probable not it's best feature, but we also don't know how other TVs in that price range compare.
It true that if you spend more, you get more.

Remember, you can only compare Samsung contrast ratio numbers to ratings of other Samsung TVs. So, yes, 5-million:1 is better than 1-million:1.

Alright I have found 2 tvs. One is 1080p, one is 720p. The 1080p is the Vizio E260MV with a dynamic contrast of 20000:1 and the 720p is the LG 26LE5300 with a dynamic contrast of 1000000:1. Which would you choose? Higher resolution or higher contrast?

@pavaleo968
I would choose based on the lines of resolution. For someone that will watch 1080P content (Blu-ray) I would go with the 1080P TV, for someone that won't need that high a resolution (just watching TV and maybe standard DVD's for example, I might go with the 720P model.
But there's lots of other factors: Which company makes a better TV, What content it will play other that TV/DVD, such as internet and USB.
Hope that helps, call us for more.
