This must have been one of the last PBV/Star releases to feature the PBV opener, as "The Last Starfighter" was released in Australian cinemas on 13th December 1984 (source: IMDB) which would have put the VHS release at around June 1985.

@AussieRoadshow Maybe I should upload the audio off tape to MP3 with scans of the pages and up them to YouTube, you think anyone would be interested in that type of stuff. You'll know it's time to turn the page when you hear the chimes ring like this...

@AussieRoadshow It typically goes for under ten dollars on Amazon and aside from a fantastic presentation of the film, it has a great twenty-fifth anniversary doco exclusive to the BD that's a real hoot. I've still got the old book and tape of this in the garage along with Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Temple Of Doom & Goonies, ah the memories!

I don't think I've ever seen 5 logos at the start of a tape. And the GU one is cool, it would have been great to see at the cinema back in the day!

Mate, you're a champion for uploading this (and other clips :D) Shame they cut off the PBV intro - maybe when the tape came out they were metamorphosing from PBV to CEL? Loved the Greater Union intro too...I don't buy into the Event Cinemas crap that much...

I think the full PBV sequence only appears on select Embassy releases, as his voice over introduces an Embassy release in entirety on those releases. I notice that it cuts off on all Star and MGM/UA ones.
I love the retro Greater Union thing. I assume this was a feature in their cinemas in the 80s, but I didn't grow up in a town with a GU cinema.

Same I just recently found this one too, the original clamshell, not the slip case version. The old logos are really cool and retro.
