@asikorskas. .just listened again and enjoyed . also read your response again . it strikes me is the difference between learning by heart/memoriseing a score, which is hard, and playing by ear making up your own score as you go !..but at your level of you shd have little trouble building on the familiarity you have with chords from the score.. i started by picking out a tune with the right hand and adding the guitar chords as shown on the score.C7,Dm7,
etc .can't sight tread.cheers

don't pick on him, the VERY thing you you call "hesitant" gives his playing that nice barpiano groove. I should know, pianobars are my faves hangouts.

great great song; i think the lyrics are the best part, but the melody is also great. Great playing, i love it.
learn it by heart then you can give it the feeling this song needs rather than the hesitant reading of the notes that comes across now

I agree that learning by heart would be helpful, but I don't think I know how to memorize music. What goes through your mind when you play memorized music? Is it just muscle memory? Do you think of chord changes?....
